In 2008 the facelifted version of the successful Porsche 997 appeared on the scene. Optically not much changed, the most noticeable difference were the new led lights, front and rear. More spectacular news was that Porsche, for the first time, would apply the automatic gearbox with twin clutch to a serial produced 911. In theory, the 997 is equipped with two joined installed semi-automatic gearboxes that also happen to have separate clutches that can be operated with buttons on the steering wheel. This is where the name PDK comes from, it stands for Porsche Doppel Kupplung. The second gearbox readily selects the next gear in which the first gearbox is situated through the double clutch, whilst one clutch disengages the other clutch engages. This means changing gear automatically is for the first time faster than changing gear manually. The Tiptronic gearbox used before was a conventional automatic gearbox with a torque convector that used quite a bit of energy which noticeably cut down on speed. With the PDK technique that aspect of driving automatic stays in the past. Also the engine received some modifications, the cubic capacity increased, so did the power, 385bhp in the S version, and the chassis was improved as well. That meant the PDK car received the adjustable sport chassis with Active Suspension Management, which could also be found on the GT3 at the time. Also the exhaust system was revised for a more sporty sound. All in all it pays of to invest in a Mk2 997 with PDK. Economically it would be wise to pick an early example PDK. When it also happens to be the strong Carrera S version the enthusiast has his racing gloves handy. Add the extensive option list and the beautiful colouration, perhaps the 911 convertible of your dreams.
Very rich specification with amongst others; Automatic Climate Control, Porsche Active Suspension Management, Porsche Stability Management, cruise control, board computer, Sport Chrono Package, electrically adjustable seats with memory function, sports seats, heated seats, automatic PDK gearbox with the possibility to to change gears manually on the steering wheel, 19 inch alloy wheels, BiXenon lights, full leather interior, Porsche Communication Management with DVD navigation and CD player, adjustable steering wheel, Park Distance Control, wind deflector, etc.
Executed in sleek Basalt Black Metallic, wholly original and damage free. No evident traces of usage on the original first paint anywhere on the car. The previous owner made name for himself for his fanatical care of the visual and mechanical condition of the car. One of the many happy benefits originating from this is the nice deep lustre in the paint . Also the in-exterior painted bumpers have no damages or parking scuffs. The impressive wide hips are equipped with original and undamaged stone chip protection stickers. All the glazing is original and stone chip free. An "as new" appearing well kept Carrera S Convertible, so far is evidently clear.
The interior of this Carrera S is truly flawless and appears not been used frequently. Look at the photos to see how tight the leather on the seats remains, as if they were barely used. Nice supple black leather. Also on the dashboard and door cards this 997 is upholstered with double stitched leather. On the floor nice original Porsche mats. All switches, levers and gauges are nice and clean and work accordingly. Also the in leather upholstered steering wheel is nicely smooth and undamaged. This car has never been smoked in. As a whole this interior presents itself as 'in new condition'
