Donald M. Healey was a pilot in the Great War. With his flying he acquired the technical knowledge he would later put turn into racing cars competitively and designing cars of his own. Healey foresaw a powerful, open and sleek lined sports car sat on a sturdy chassis that would handle all the power beautifully. This became his reality, especially for what concerns the engine capacity and the looks, his cars sold by the boatload, virtually since 90% of the total production was shipped to the USA. The gorgeous design was popular then, but may now be regarded as iconic, ask any car enthusiast. Many of the cars that resided stateside made their way back to Europe over the years, often in a shabby state or restored poorly. This 3000MK1 was sold new in Portland, USA and resided their almost her whole life. In 2015 the car came to Europe to be expertly restored cosmetically and mechanically. "Perfection" in the car-world is a word to take with caution, it factually does not exist, and should be avoided if you ask me. The condition of this Healey and its restoration come very close however, its restoration has been executed flawlessly. As the photos of the restoration depict, the car was built up from the ground up, on a bare chassis. Regardless of the cost this Healey was granted a new life by the German specialist who commissioned the restoration. Evidently well-documented; more provenance available. Throughout, the car is correct; from the original colouration, engine and gearbox, rebuilt naturally, to the supplied Heritage Certificate. For those who want to drive carefree in a 'new' Austin Healey a remarkable occasion. Will be supplied, how could it be otherwise, with a flight jacket.
